THE CCS & CITB - A partnership approach

The CCS and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) acknowledge the mutual benefits of working closely together and provide a structured, proven support framework to the benefit of many of the CCS members.

In the last 24 months the collaboration between the two organisations has increased significantly with a more organised approach being taken by both parties to address key skills development and learning capabilities.

CITB take a lead role in developing training strategy and influencing supply and funding for the majority of the construction sector, including specialists. This combined with the CCS co-operation means that both organisations work closely with the Government and its departments, such as the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), employers and other relevant bodies.

About the CITB

The CITB is the Industry Training Board and a partner in the Sector Skills Council for the construction industry in England, Scotland and Wales. CITB’s role is to work with industry to encourage training, which helps build a safe, professional and fully qualified workforce.

Levy Framework Explained

One of the clear messages that comes thought is that is often thought difficult and complicated to understand the Levy and how it all works. The CCS-CITB collaboration seeks to make it as simple as possible to understand what it is, what it is not and how to get an understanding of how to make it work for you.

Research relating to the Apprenticeship dynamic suggests that well over 36,000 apprentice recruits are needed each year for the next five years to keep up with demand in construction. Working together the CCS and CITB seek to make accessing Apprentices and Apprentice recruitment process as easy as possible.
