About the course

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT

The Construction Contractual Dispute Avoidance programme is delivered at several of the Confederation’s training venues.

There are 6 modules to complete the programme:

1 – Introduction to Contracts

2 – Contractually Supervising and Managing Specialist Construction Work

3 – Obtaining Payment

4 – Handling Claims and Disputes

5 -An Alternative Form of Contract

6 – Specialist Subcontract Management

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are delivered through 1-day tutorials and unit 6 is spread over 2 tutorial days.

At the completion of each module, candidates are given an assignment to complete. Lecturers will mark the assignments and give feedback and provide support in case of difficulties. The IoCS’s verification process checks a representative sample of marked assignments for consistency. The verification process also includes annual quality assurance audits.

 

CITB grant – CITB registered companies may be able to claim a grant for the programme through the CITB’s Skills and Training Fund. Contact your local CITB advisor.

Course booking Terms and Conditions

  1. All course fees are payable in full at time of reservation unless agreed otherwise.
  2. A refund of 60% of the amount paid will be made in the event of receipt of written cancellation at least THREE weeks prior to the date of the course. No refund can be made on cancellation thereafter.
  3. Substitution of delegates (from the same company/firm) can be made at any time prior to the start of the course.
  4. All course documentation is provided solely for the private training and study purposes of individual delegates. Copyright is reserved on all material prepared and provided by the Confederation of Construction Specialists
  5. The Confederation of Construction Specialists reserves the right to make any alterations to course arrangements necessitated by circumstances beyond its control.
  6. Construction Contractual Dispute Avoidance Programme – candidates must pass all of the courses to be awarded the programme’s certificate. 

Terms of application

  1. We/I hereby apply for Associate Membership of the Confederation of Construction Specialists.
  2. We/I understand that Associate Membership does not confer voting rights under the Confederation’s constitution.
  3. We/I understand that when the Confederation refers a member company to an Associate, any advice or help given is under the Associate’s own PI Insurance.
  4. We/I agree that this application will not be approved until the Management Committee has been granted an opportunity to comment on the application.
  5. We/I undertake to fully comply with and be bound by the Constitution and Code of Practice on admission to membership of the Confederation.
  6. We/I have understand that notice of intended resignation from membership must be provided, in writing, to the Confederation’s administrative office at least two months in advance of the membership renewal date.
  7. We/I have noted that as an Associate Member we/I will pay the annual subscription of £270 + VAT.

Terms of application

  2. We/I understand that Contractor Membership confers voting rights under the Confederation’s constitution.
  3. We/I understand that when the Confederation refers a member company to an Associate, any advice or help given is under the Associate’s own PI Insurance.
